Turismologist: Tourism expert
Between tourist and tourist, the most accepted term is usually the first. A basic definition would be something like "person versed in tourism", paraphrasing what the RAE provides for ‘philologist’ in relation to philology. However, tourism is not a fully accepted term, although it has been widely used by tourism scholars and researchers for decades.
Tourist specialist: tourist expert
The term touristist is probably less used and accepted than the previous one, although those who use it tend to use it as a synonym for “tourist expert”. That is, the professional who focuses on the study of the person traveling and not other components inherent in tourism, such as tourism resources, public policies, business offer, etc.
In this way, the tourist specialist would be in charge of analyzing and interpreting the consumption habits of a tourist, his motivations, his needs, etc. And after that, it would implement actions aimed at improving the service of a certain company or professional in the tourism sector.
Therefore, the difference between tourist and tourist specialist lies in the scope of knowledge and preparation you have; the first could understand Tourism from any of its perspectives: social, economic, cultural, scientific or administrative; and the second, he has a much more limited knowledge and focused solely on what the trip entails and who carries it out.
